Master Materials List

Overview: The master materials list allows you to change or update all materials prices throughout the estimate in one place. The system will create a spreadsheet of all materials items (including the total quantity) and, from this spreadsheet you can enter new material prices. Figure 1 shows this spreadsheet.

There are three types of materials lists: (1) Master Materials List, (2) Asphalt Materials List and (3) Concrete Materials List. The Master Materials List shows all of the material items within the project. The Asphalt and Concrete Material Lists shows all of the raw materials for all the asphalt/concrete mixes within the project. Other than showing different materials, all three material lists operate exactly the same. In this section we will discuss the Master Materials List only. To open the Master Materials List select “Sub/Matl Pricing: Master Materials List” from the Main Estimate Screen.

Any item shown with a gray background are material items that have different material prices loaded into different items. Items with a price in RED are prices that you have changed on this screen and will be changed if you select the option to save changes.

From the upper dropdown menus you have the following options:

File: Print

Prints a report showing all material in the current project.

File: Close

Closes the Worksheet (this option does NOT load new prices).

Options: Load Prices into Project

This option will load all of the material prices into the estimate. Prices you have changed will be displayed in red on the screen.

Options: Reset Prices

This option will reset all of the prices to their initial value. NOTE: If you have previously loaded any prices, then this option will only reset the prices to the value of the last time that you loaded.

Help: Index

This option will display help for this screen. This is the same as pressing the F1 function key.

Help: About

This option will display the Help-About dialog box showing the current version number for ProEstimate - HEAVY.

There are four options available from the toolbar.

Close - Closes the Worksheet. This option does NOT load new prices.

Save/Close - Saves any changes in material prices and Closes this screen.

Print - Prints a report showing all material in the current project.

Help - Displays the Help window.

The only column on this that will allow the entry of information is the “Unit Price” column. Simply move the cursor to the desired material item and type in the new price. The prices will NOT be updated within the estimate unless and until you select the menu item “Options: Load Prices into Project.”
