Before you Begin
Before beginning the installation process, determine if you are installing the ProEstimate Heavy (stand-alone) or the ProEstimate Network (shared) version.
ProEstimate Heavy projects will be stored on a local system. The program files for ProEstimate HEAVY must be installed on a computer with FULL read/write access to the WinHeavy folder. The stand-alone databases are not shared with other users. However, users can back-up and restore databases on other stand-alone systems. The estimator can send projects to be opened on other computers using ProEstimate Heavy.
ProEstimate Network allows estimators to work together on projects that can be viewed and updated from each machine. Every workstation that will be running ProEstimate Network must have FULL (read, write, and delete) access to the folder on the server that contains the data. In addition, each workstation must have a “mapped path” to the shared network folder (i.e. F:\Winheavy, where “F” is the network drive).
NOTE: The SERVER files only need to be installed one time from any computer connected to the server. The USER files must be installed on each individual workstation that will be running the program.
