Spread Indirects
As mentioned in the previous section, one of the options on the Indirects Screen is to spread the indirect costs into the current job. This option allows the estimator to set up a list of pay items, then enter the amounts to be added to each pay item for the indirect costs. When the costs are actually added to the estimate, they will be labeled as indirect cost. Figure 1 shows the Spread Indirects Screen. Figure 1 Percent/Unit Amount These two columns are used to enter either the dollar amount or percentage of indirect cost to spread into each pay item. Entering a value in one column will automatically zero the value in the other column. To Spread -Spread/Variance These numbers allow you to track exactly how much of the indirect cost you have selected to spread into the estimate. The system will not allow you to spread the costs into the estimate if the “Variance” is greater than 10% of the indirect cost. Add Pay Item This option will display a window showing all pay items in the current project (any pay items previously selected will already be marked). From this screen you can select the pay items to load the indirect costs into. Delete Pay Item Delete ALL Pay Items Variance into Current PI This option will automatically spread the amount listed in the “Variance” at the bottom of the screen into the currently selected pay item. Prorate over ALL PI’s This option will prorate the total indirect costs over all of the pay items listed. The amount spread into each pay item is the ratio of the COST for each pay item to the total cost for all selected pay items. Prorate over Labor Cost This option will prorate the total indirect costs over all of the pay items listed based on the labor costs within each pay item. The amount spread into each pay item is the ratio of the LABOR COST for each pay item to the total labor cost for all selected pay items. This option is designed to be used to spread the indirect costs over your items and to exclude sub items. Load into Estimate Selecting this option will load the costs entered on this current worksheet into the estimate. The system will automatically print a spreadsheet report showing the costs loaded into each pay item. ** NOTE **
The system will not allow you to spread the cost into the estimate if the Variance (shown at the bottom of the screen) exceeds 10% of the indirect cost. Worksheet Protection If you would like to change the Column Widths or Row Heights, you must first turn off Worksheet Protection. NOTE: You CANNOT enter any prices while Worksheet Protection is turned OFF. To change the column widths, simply place the cursor in the column heading on the line between the columns (it will turn into a double arrow pointing left and right), and drag the column break to the desired width. Remember you must turn Worksheet Protection back ON before you can enter any prices.
This option will delete the currently highlighted pay item from the worksheet.
This option will remove ALL of the pay items from the current worksheet.
