Check Bid

In addition to going through all the steps needed to close out a bid, the closing menu also has a  option.  After you have completed your bid you can use the Check Bid option to identify any areas that need to be looked into.

Check the boxes that you want to check then press the Check Bid button.  After the check is complete, you can press the Report button to see a detailed report of the errors in your bid.  Listed below are the items that are checked:

Zero Price Pay Items

This option will look form any items that do not have any tasks or costs entered.  The system will also display any items that only have material costs.

Empty Tasks

This option will look for any tasks that do not have any cost detail entered.

Sub/Matl Pricing Sheets

This option will check all the pricing sheets that have been set up for the project and report any pricing sheets that (a) do not have any of the bidders loaded, (b) there is a bidder with a lower price, (c) the loaded bidders prices do not match the prices loaded into the estimate and (d) if the loaded bidders prices include any plug prices.

Indirects Spread

This option will check to see if (a) the indirects have been loaded into the estimate, (b) make sure the items that the indirects are loaded into are not un-selected alternates or items that have a take-off quantity, (c) the amount spread into the estimate matched the amount selected to load, (d) the labor and equipment rates match the labor and equipment rates in the project databases and (e) make sure all of the indirect cost has been spread into the estimate.

Bond/GRT

This option will check to see if (a) the bond cost has been spread into the estimate, and (b) it will recalculate the bond cost and make sure this is the same amount included on the indirects sheet.   This option will also check to make sure the Gross Receipts Tax (if entered) is correct.

Balance Variance

This option will check to make sure the balanced bid is the same as the calculated bid.

Project Alternates

This option will check to make sure you have selected any alternates that have been set up on the project.

Minority Status

This option will check to make sure the minority goals you entered on the project settings screen have been met.

Prime Bidder Percentage

This option will check to make sure the minimum prime bidder percentage have been met, if you entered a Minimum Prime Contractor percentage on the Subcontractor Screen in the Project Settings.

If you do not need to check certain items, then you should UN-Check those items before running the bid check option.  For example, if the project does not require any minority percentage, then uncheck the “Minority Status” option before checking the bid.
