OMAN SYSTEMS, INC. HISTORY
WE DID WHAT YOU DO
The Oman Family has been in the civil construction industry for over 140 years and through five generations. In 1881, John Oman won a bridge contract for the Nashville, Chattanooga, & St. Louis Railroad. The bridge contract led to the creation of the Oman Construction Company.
Over the next few decades, Oman Construction led and partnered on impressive projects around the world. Some noteworthy projects include:
- Expansion of the Panama Canal after WWII.
- The Trans-Alaskan Pipeline.
- The Alaska-Canadian (Alcan) Highway - A 1,522 mile military supply route connecting Dawson Creek, British Columbia with Fairbanks, Alaska.
- Led the construction of the worldโs highest earth-fill Dam in Oroville, California.
Oman Systems, Inc. (OSI) was founded in 1992 by John and Jack Oman, when they developed a crew-based estimating system ProEstimate. With years of experience in estimating and building heavy/highway projects, they started marketing the program at a local level and eventually expanded nationwide. After a few years, OSI also introduced two more products: BidTabs.NET and FieldManagement Pro.
